Most children need twice a week to move. If you are paying out of pocket and want to start smaller, once a week is a real option. Everyone starts with the assessment.
Two 50-minute sessions a week. Works out slightly cheaper per session than booking singles.
One 50-minute session a week. The same work, at half the pace.
I keep a small number of families at a time. That isn't a sales line, it's how one person does this work properly.
A number of states now give families an education savings account or scholarship they control directly, and one-to-one tutoring is normally an approved expense — particularly where a child has an IEP, a diagnosis, or a documented learning difference. Several of those programs award somewhere close to $10,000 a year for an eligible child, and it is money that has to go on approved education expenses or go back unspent.
That is deliberate. A year of twice-weekly one-to-one work is priced to sit inside one year's allocation, so a family in one of these programs can put the whole thing on funding they already hold and pay nothing themselves.
Program names, amounts and eligibility rules differ by state and change year to year, so I won't quote your state's numbers at you on a web page. What I will do on the free call is tell you whether what I offer looks like an approved expense under your program, what documentation providers are usually asked for, and what to submit. If your program needs an invoice in a particular format, I'll produce it.
Ask me about your state's programThe price includes the materials. You are not going to be told three weeks in that the real program costs another few hundred dollars, or that progress needs a workbook set. If your child needs a specific book we're reading together, I'll tell you if it's something worth owning and otherwise I supply it.
